Mallows promotion push gathers momentum

On a glorious spring afternoon at Parkadillane,
Mallow furthered their chances of a swift return to Div 2 and in turn put a dent on Fermoy’s promotion prospects. The home side came out on top with a 15-3 win in a tough and bruising encounter. Kieran O’Gorman and Ray Roche scored tries for Mallow and Brian Morris kicked a conversion and penalty.
Mallow now face Douglas in back to back fixtures, knowing nothing less than 2 victories will do. Mallows main rivals Charleville retained their slim one point advantage at the top of the league with an 11 - 0 win over Waterford City. The league standing is as follows:

Mallow host 3rd place Fermoy this Sunday in Parkdillane, St. Josephs Road. The host currently lie in 2nd place 1 point behind leaders Charleville and 1 point ahead of Fermoy. With Fermoy and Charleville both picking up bonus points wins on their last outings, Mallow will be anxious to avoid any slip ups. When the sides last met in late November, the hosts scraped a last minute penalty to gain a draw. Mallow will be out to set the record straight and further their claim for a playoff place however they will have to be at their best as Fermoy appear to be form team coming into the home straight.

Mallow resume league campaign against Shandon

Mallow face another away trip to their near neighbours Shandon. The sides both met recently in the Junior Cup with Mallow coming away with a comfortable victory. This game will double up as a Junior Plate fixture due to both sides having league games postponed earlier in the season. With so much on the line, Mallow will have to be at their best in order to gain valuable league points and to ensure their Junior Plate hopes remain intact.

Mallow 2nds XV face a very difficult away trip in their league final in what is a repeat of their last league outing which they lost 6-3. Mallow will be out to exact revenge for that game but with the vocal local home support
and experience of the opposition this will pose as a very difficult task.
Mallow RFC Fashion Show 2010
The Mallow RFC Fashion Show returns again, this thursday the 18th of February at 8 o clock. It will be held in the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow. Tickets are available at the door for €20.

Mallow resume their league campaign this weekend away to Dungarvan. The sides met earlier in the season and the home team ran out comfortable winners. This time around however Mallow will be expecting a different proposition with the home team showing good form at home proving very difficult opponents on their home turf. Mallow will be a bit rusty as they have not had a game since the 20th December 2009.
Mallow 2nds XV are away to Youghal in a very important fixture. After an outstanding display by the 2nds last weekend v Bandon, Mallow will be hoping to kick on in Group A of the J3 South Playoffs. Victory will see them within touching distance of J2 promotion.

Last weeks; postponed First round tie in the Munster Junior Cup has been rescheduled for this Sunday, 17th January away to Shandon at their Whitechurch venue. Mallows last competitive outing was against Shandon which Mallow won comfortably. However this is Cup Rugby and the Mallow 1stXV will have their work cut out for them with home advantage and a vocal local crowd ensuring a competitive game.
